Keep Music Alive Launches $500,000 Capital Campaign to Create Nation's FIRST Musical Instrument Petting Zoo Museum. Campaign aims to open interactive music museum in Fall 2028.
PHILADELPHIA, PA — June 1st, 2026 — Keep Music Alive, the nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring more children (and adults) to play music, is proud to announce the launch of a two-year, $500,000 capital campaign to establish a permanent Musical Instrument Petting Zoo Museum, scheduled to open in Fall 2028.
The proposed museum will provide visitors of all ages with a unique hands-on opportunity to explore and play a wide variety of musical instruments from around the world. Building upon the success of Keep Music Alive's popular Musical Instrument Petting Zoo events, the museum will create an immersive environment where curiosity, creativity, and music education come together.
"Our Musical Instrument Petting Zoo events have introduced tens of thousands of children and adults to the joy of making music," said Vincent James, Founder of Keep Music Alive. "This museum will provide a permanent home where families, schools, and community groups can experience music in an engaging and interactive way while helping inspire the next generation of music makers."
The capital campaign seeks to raise $500,000 over the next two years to support facility acquisition and development, exhibit design, instrument collections, educational programming, accessibility features, and operational readiness leading up to the museum's opening.
The Musical Instrument Petting Zoo Museum will feature 150-200 instruments with hands-on instrument exploration stations, historical exhibits, educational workshops, special events, and interactive displays designed to make music learning accessible and enjoyable for visitors of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Keep Music Alive invites individuals, foundations, corporations, and community partners to join the campaign and help bring this exciting vision to life.
